AccuPOS Retail Bar Code Labels Setup

with Wasp Labeler 6.0 or higher

Part One – Setup Labels Size And Layout

Install The Printer Driver – Whether you will be using a regular 8.5 x 11 or a dedicated label printer, before you can begin designing your bar code labels, you will need to install the printer driver on the computer that Wasp will be installed on. Also, when using a dedicated label printer, it is important to set the label size using the printer driver properties.

Install Wasp Labeler - Close all other open programs, and install Wasp with typical settings.  Once Wasp has been installed you can run it by navigating the Start Menu.  If you are using Windows XP, click All Programs >> Wasp Technologies >> Labeler >> Labeler, for all other operating systems click Programs instead of All Programs.

Start With A Blank Label - As soon as the labeler opens, you are presented with the Wasp welcome screen.  Select Blank Label and then click OK. If you are not presented with the welcome screen, click on File>> New.

If you are not able to find the exact mach, select the closest size and uncheck the Lock Edits, so you may change the size to fit your actual label size and page layout.

  1. Click OK to return to the label.

Label Layout – Now that you have selected the printer and correct label size, you will begin laying out the label, with the required fields for your products. Initially the label will be blank, however you will lay out the fields. This is how it will look once you print the label. It is the same concept as any other page or document.

The following example label will consist of Product Code (barcode), Product Description, and Product Price. Therefore we will need to insert three fields.

1.      Using the Insert drop down at the top of the screen, click:

Part Two – Select Items to Print and Make Final Adjustments

Using AccuPOS management, you will select the items and quantity of labels to print. Before you start printing the entire list of items that needs to be bar-coded, you will need to print a couple of labels for testing purposes. It is recommended to print a label for the item with the longest item code. This will ensure that the longest item code will print fully and scan properly.

Set Barcode Counts – Using AccuPOS Management Module.

  1. Click on Barcoding >> Set Barcode Counts

  1. Click Yes when the “clear barcode counts” pop-up appears.

  1. Click No when the “load items with price changes only” pop-up appears

  1. Highlight the item with the longest item code.
  2. Enter 1 in the Set Quantity field, and click on Set Quantity.

  1. Click Exit.

Print Sample Labels – Using Wasp Labeler you will actually print the labels for the items selected, through AccuPOS Management.

  1. In Wasp, click on File >> Print Preview.

  1. Select “Dynamic From Column in Data Source”.

  1. Select (barcode),(Quantity) from the Column drop down.

  1. Click OK
  2. Click Print Preview

If the fields do not align on the label, close out the print preview screen and move the fields around to fit properly on the label. Remember, the larger the bar code is on the label, the easier it will be for the scanner to read. Make the bar code as big as you can.

Once the fields are aligned, print the label and try scanning it at the Point Of Sale. If the label scans properly, you are ready to print labels for the items that require them.
